"Dora & The Lost City of Gold" Movie Review

Hello guys! How your stay at home program? Yap, maybe for some people staying at home is a little boring. Right? But, with a situation like now we are indeed as much as possible to stay at home. Because with stay at home, we can save many people! I have a film recommendation, to accompany you work and study. Especially you guys, lovers of Dora series as a child. This can be used as a remembrance of your childhood. Yuhuuu!

The film title is "Dora & The Lost City of Gold". This is a live action ada ptation of the Nickelodeon TV series "Dora the Explorer" and directed by James Bobin. This film is produced by 4 productions namely Paramount Players, Nickelodeon Movies, Walden Media, Media Rights Capital, and Burr! Productions. The film was released on 9 August 2019 by Paramount Pictures. This adventure-family genre film tells the story of Dora in adolescence. His adventure with his three friends in searching for the lost city called Parapata.

Cinematography on this film is very good, from shooting, camera transitions and details obtained from taking the right angle. It really spoils the eyes, especially with the beautiful natural treats. Really!

Good cinematography is also supported by good editing. There is almost nothing to miss in this film. In terms of coloring, this is quite consistent, good and feels right in every scene.

There are several animations in this film, which might indeed look impossible in real life. The animation they use is pretty good even though there are some that look very impossible. Animation that looks real and is still acceptable is the animation of the character of the Boots "the monkey of Dora’s friend". And what's quite strange is the scene where the characters turn into animated Dora series characters who turned out to be like depicting them in a state of death. Maybe in this scene, the director wants to show a little snippet from the animated TV series.

Music and sound are very fitting. High and low sound is comfortable to hear, not disturbing at all. In some scenes, back sounds are used using theme songs from the original TV series.

There are several settings in this film such as schools, houses, museums, public places, and the most dominant forest. With a dominant setting in the forest and this fits the story. A film tells about exploring a forest or something new.

This film has a plot that is quite predictable with the flow forward. Except for the nature of Alejandro's character, this is a bit unexpected. Every character in this film can play a role well. They can convey the message and character they play.

In this live action version, it still retains the characters in the cartoon version. Starting from maintaining dora's clothes, purple backpack full of tools, the character ‘Boots’ the monkey of Dora’s friend, the character ‘swiper’ the fox and also the love of the dora who likes to sing were shown in this movie. It is very fitting to watch with family. In addition to maintaining some authenticity from the cartoon version, this film also educates. Especially, education about the forest is our friend who needs to be cared for and not to damage it. And also education about the purpose of an explorer is to learn.

So, from the aspect above, I give this film 8.7/10 aka Okay Movie. Because even though it's almost perfect, there are still some parts that can be better again. Happy watching and reminisce with this film.
