Rendang Siti Nurbaya, a signature culinary product from Minangkabau, is now poised to make a significant mark on the global market, thanks to an innovative program that fosters international collaboration.

This program, titled "Empowering Local Entrepreneurs: Creating Promotional Videos for Rendang Siti Nurbaya," was initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Business at Andalas University. It brought together students from various countries, including South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia, to collaboratively create promotional videos for this iconic dish, adding a rich international dimension to the initiative.

The primary goal of this initiative was not only to introduce Rendang Siti Nurbaya to a broader global audience but also to build cultural bridges through cross-country collaboration. Each student group was given the creative freedom to develop their own concepts, film the intricate rendang-making process, and edit the videos.
These videos were then shared on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where they quickly gained traction. One student from South Korea expressed great enthusiasm for the program, stating that the experience was invaluable. They emphasized that it taught them essential video production techniques while providing deeper insight into how cultures can connect through food.

The outcomes of this international collaboration were nothing short of remarkable. The promotional videos attracted significant attention from thousands of social media users, substantially boosting brand awareness for Rendang Siti Nurbaya.
Ida Nursanti, the owner of Rendang Siti Nurbaya, highlighted that this collaboration demonstrated the potential for local products to secure a place in the international market when supported by the right strategy. The involvement of international students injected fresh energy into the promotion, cultivating a sense of pride in the fact that the rich flavors of Minangkabau are now being enjoyed more widely across the globe.
In addition to the positive reception, a student from Malaysia shared their experience, describing it as unforgettable and invaluable for learning innovative ways to promote local products. The exposure provided through this program not only highlights the cultural significance of Rendang Siti Nurbaya but also underscores its readiness for the global market.
